AN INTENSITY OF LIGHT

A photographic print work by Paul Harrison

A figure named Svalinn rides in the sun’s chariot and holds a shield between the sun and the earth below. If he didn’t do this, both the land and the sea would be consumed in flames” old Poetic EDDA - Norse mythology

AN INTENSITY OF LIGHT - DESCRIPTION

.

The sun’s effect on the earth and all life is immense. As well as the giver and taker of life it has always been a messenger and one we should listen to more as perhaps we should to our entire environment.

I am always more interested in what cannot be seen rather than what can. These images I consider to be reliant on and a construction of the intensity of sun light.

The images are made using a range of old 120 and 5x4 cameras and digitally processed in Photoshop to output an archival digital print. I use the base colour of the negative film Kodak 400 Portra Professional film as the print tone.

(Colour archival inkjet print w250mm x h200mm) – Exhibition size including white border w500mm x h400mm.

Printed on Photo Rag paper to exhibition/archive standards
