Notations – “A brief record as an aid to the memory”
When I photograph something I don’t just photograph what it appears to be but also what it could be and I believe there is more to everything.
Working with an assortment of film and digital cameras that were junk shop bought, borrowed or gifts from friends and relatives I produce images that are both recognisable and abstract. Sometimes the images are a result of a particular “quirk” in the camera or a multi-exposure. I rarely focus or even look through the viewfinder. I don’t look at the original images for many months and then find it easier to disassociate them from what I actually saw at the time.
I attempt to make the images an emotional response to a specific place.
Images are originated using analogue process and digital capture. Prints are made using an ink-jet process on archival paper. Each print is 25.4cm x 25.4cm (actual image size).
Images are intended to be shown as final print including white border 50.8cm(w) x 40.64cm(h). Works are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Images are produced to exhibition sizes – although prints may be produced to site-specific sizes.
Notations Edition limited to 10.
